Effect of D-chiro-inositol on hormonal parameters and insulin resistance in women with polycystic ovary syndrome

چکیده
Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age, characterized by hormonal imbalance and insulin resistance. D-chiro-inositol, a naturally occurring inositol isomer, has been suggested as potential treatment option for PCOS. This study aimed to investigate the effects D-chiro-inositol supplementation on parameters, resistance in with Methods: randomized controlled was conducted 60 PCOS resistance, who were assigned either Group A (D-chiro-inositol) or B (placebo) 12 weeks. S. FSH, LH, total testosterone, fasting blood glucose, insulin, (HOMA-IR) measured at baseline after weeks treatment. Statistical analyses performed using SPSS version 23.0 Windows. Results: After treatment, significant reductions serum luteinizing hormone, HOMA-IR observed group compared placebo group. However, no changes glucose levels. well-tolerated, differences side between two groups. Conclusions: significantly improved The suggesting that can be effective therapeutic patients

Effects of d-chiro-inositol in lean women with the polycystic ovary syndrome.
OBJECTIVE To determine whether the administration of D-chiro-inositol, a putative insulin-sensitizing drug, would affect the concentration of circulating insulin, the levels of serum androgens, and the frequency of ovulation in lean women with the polycystic ovary syndrome. METHODS In 20 lean women (body mass index, 20.0 to 24.4 kg/m 2) who had the polycystic ovary syndrome, treatment was ini...

OBJECTIVE Evidence suggests that some actions of insulin are effected by inositolphosphoglycan (IPG) mediators. We hypothesize that a deficiency in D-chiro-inositol (DCI) and/or a DCI-containing IPG (DCI-IPG) may contribute to insulin resistance in humans. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS To assess this possibility in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), we determined insulin sensitivity (Si by frequ...
متن کاملEffect of Aerobic Training Program on Obesity and Insulin Resistance in Young Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
OBJECTIVE: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrinopathy in women of reproductive age characterized by the presence of polycystic ovaries, menstrual dysfunction and biochemical or clinical hyperandrogenism. Lifestyle modification is important in treatment of obese and overweight women with PCOS. This study was performed to evaluate the benefit of aerobic exercise training o...
متن کاملEffect on Insulin-Stimulated Release of D-Chiro-Inositol-Containing Inositolphosphoglycan Mediator during Weight Loss in Obese Women with and without Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Background. A deficiency of D-chiro-inositol-inositolphosphoglycan mediator (DCI-IPG) may contribute to insulin resistance in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Whether the relationship between impaired DCI-IPG release and insulin resistance is specific to PCOS rather than obesity is unknown. We assessed insulin-released DCI-IPG and its relationship to insulin sensitivity at baseline and after w...
متن کاملD-chiro-inositol glycans in insulin signaling and insulin resistance.
Classical actions of insulin involve increased glucose uptake from the bloodstream and its metabolism in peripheral tissues, the most important and relevant effects for human health. However, nonoxidative and oxidative glucose disposal by activation of glycogen synthase (GS) and mitochondrial pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) remain incompletely explained by current models for insulin action. Since ...
